OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE

Hello!  Thanks for dropping by.  My name is Kat and I’m the founder of Bath Club.  

Before discovering bath powder one random day in Tokyo in 2019, I’d had a beautiful bath for more than 5 years that I had rarely used for so many reasons. It was downstairs, the bathroom was often messy, and the idea of running a bath for myself after a workday was often just too much to contemplate, especially when the bath products on the market in Australia just never felt like they matched the peaceful, cleansing experience I was chasing.

Returning to that fateful day in Tokyo, I stumbled across a product I’d never seen before. What were these gorgeous, mysterious sachets with their sweet illustrations and storytelling?  Google Translate stepped in and rash purchasing decisions were made.

I arrived home in late January 2020 with 50 sachets of bath powder. A few weeks later the pandemic arrived in Australia and I was made redundant from a job I loved. Bath powder baths quite literally carried me through the pandemic.  I’d never been able to sit in a tub for more than 10 minutes at a time before - my mind would wander, work would interrupt, or I’d just get plain old restless.  But without the ability to leave the house and the lingering pressure of the job hunt to escape from (and to be honest, an aching lower back from playing too much Animal Crossing), those intriguing sachets I’d hidden away came to mind.

At first I approached baths with discipline, setting aside time and calculating which TV show would keep me in the water for long enough (it was Grey’s Anatomy, for what it’s worth).  But before long, baths became a peaceful, cosy habit and a time of discovery and delight. What colour would the water turn?  Would it be clear or milky?  Would there be bubbles? Documenting this in my personal instagram stories, I learned that others were along for the ride with me.
